It's one of those great horror movies that's so awful it's fantastic, and Leprechaun is one of those movies. The storyline is completely off the rails, the acting is over the top, and the visual effects are so awful they're laughable. But despite this, everything works together in the end to produce a picture that is both enjoyable and engaging. Jennifer Aniston's performance in her first picture is unexpectedly strong, and Warwick Davis is fantastic in the role he plays as the leprechaun. It is highly recommended that you see Leprechaun if you like goofy horror films like those that it is based on. Just don't go into it expecting to be frightened since the chances are far higher that this movie will make you chuckle than scream.Warwick Davis' iconic depiction of an enraged leprechaun has entered the realm of urban legend. As the video progresses, the leprechaun begins to suspect that a human family has taken his pot of gold. He decides to go on a quest for them and uses all of his wits and might to do so. In the meanwhile, the family is franticly looking for the gold so they may appease the leprechaun and avoid any damage. Leprechaun is one of the finest horror movies of all time because to Davis's terrifying and memorable performance.
In what was supposed to be a more straightforward horror flick, Davis added some comedic touches as the Leprechaun.
Leprechaun movie plot:
After visiting his homeland Ireland in 1983, Dan O'Grady returns to North Dakota. O'Grady learns after burying the riches that the leprechaun murdered his wife. O'Grady uses a four-leaf clover to trap the leprechaun. He's dead before he can burn him.
Ten years later, J. D. Redding and his teenage daughter Tory rent the O'Grady farmhouse for the summer. Painting the farmhouse is a job for Nathan Murphy, his 10-year-old brother Alex, and their friend Ozzie Jones, who works as a contract worker. Ozzie hears the leprechaun calling for help while he is searching the basement. He thinks the leprechaun is a small child. He lets the leprechaun out of the box by taking out the old four-leaf clover. Ozzie asks the leprechaun who he is. The leprechaun tells Ozzie that he is an Irish shoemaker who came to America to find his fortune. Ozzie fails to convince the others that he saw a leprechaun. He then sees a rainbow and follows it, hoping to find a pot of gold. Alex goes with him because he is afraid Ozzie will hurt himself. Before Ozzie, a magic trick makes a bag with 100 gold coins appear. After Ozzie checks it out and accidentally eats a coin, they hide the gold in an old well. They did this because they thought it would heal Ozzie's brain.
The leprechaun on the farm deceives J. D. into falling into a trap by impersonating a cat and biting and injuring his hand while posing as a feline. After Tory and the others take him to the hospital, the leprechaun rides a tricycle. When Alex and Ozzie drive to a pawn shop to verify the gold's purity, the leprechaun kills the proprietor, Joe, for stealing his gold and polishes Joe's shoes before fleeing. On his way back to the farmhouse, the leprechaun builds himself a go-kart and is caught for speeding by a police officer. The leprechaun chases the police officer into the forest, where he finally murders the officer. The leprechaun returns to the farm and searches for his riches while sparkling each shoe he encounters. The group returns to the farmhouse after delivering J. D. to the hospital. Nathan is injured by a bear trap placed by a leprechaun as he checks the exterior of a plundered structure. The gang tackles the leprechaun with rocks and clubs in the open air.
When they find a gun in the house, they shoot the leprechaun many times. When it doesn't work, they try to leave, but the leprechaun has broken the engine of their truck. After crashing the car with the go-kart, the leprechaun scares the group until Ozzie admits that he and Alex found the pot of gold. Tory gets the bag out of the well and gives it to the leprechaun. They go to the hospital, certain that the worst is over. As the leprechaun counts his money, he realizes that Ozzie ate the last coin he had. He threatens them because he thinks they're trying to trick him, but Ozzie tells them that O'Grady had a stroke and was sent to a nursing home. The gang distracts the leprechaun by throwing dirty shoes at him. The leprechaun has to go shine the shoes while Tory gets in her jeep and drives away. Tory goes to the house to learn how to kill the leprechaun.
At the nursing home, the leprechaun is acting under the guise of O'Grady. Tory is pursued by the leprechaun until they reach an elevator. The leprechaun then throws O'Grady's mutilated body down the elevator shaft as Tory flees. Before he passes away, O'Grady gives her the warning that the only way to kill the leprechaun is with a four-leaf clover, which just so happens to grow in a vast area outside the farm. O'Grady's death puts an end to the conversation. Tory returns to the farmhouse in an attempt to locate a clover, but the leprechaun ambushes her there, and Nathan and Ozzie are required to rescue her. During his pursuit of the last gold coin, the leprechaun suffers serious injuries while trying to retrieve it from Ozzie, who later admits that he swallowed it. Before the leprechaun can kill Ozzie, Alex takes a four-leaf clover that Tory found, fastens it to a wad of gum, and shoots it into the leprechaun's mouth. This causes the leprechaun to disintegrate and disappear. In spite of the fact that it had fallen into the well, the skeleton of the leprechaun managed to come out and proclaim, "I want my gold." After Nathan has successfully coaxed the leprechaun (blog) back into the well, he then lights both of the things on fire using gasoline. When the police arrive, Tory is able to get back together with her father, get married to Nathan, and have a kid with him. While the authorities look through the remains of the well, the leprechaun makes an oath that he won't give up until he recovers every last piece of his fortune.

The fourth film, Leprechaun 4: In Space, is a bit of a departure from the previous films as it takes place aboard a spaceship and features the Leprechaun battling aliens. The fifth and final film in the series, Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, finds the Leprechaun returning to his roots in inner-city Los Angeles. Despite the mostly negative critical reception, the Leprechaun franchise has proven to be quite popular, and it remains a cult classic to this day.

It is well knowledge that George Lucas was involved in the selection of Warwick Davis for the role of Willow. The explanation behind this, however, is not as well recognized. It would seem that Davis was bound by a contract with Lucas, and Lucas was required to grant his OK before Davis could feature in the film. As a consequence of this, he was recognized at the very end of the movie with a "special thanks" credit. Fans of horror films will find that the movie is much more intriguing when they learn this little-known truth. It's simply another illustration of how much of an impact George Lucas has had on popular culture.
At first, the leprechaun was intended to run away and return to Ireland. However, Warwick Davis, the Irish actor cast in the role of the leprechaun, was unable to begin filming because he lacked the proper work visa. Davis required a visa in three days to shoot the last scene, which is a very unlikely occurrence. Davis was able to wrap up shooting on time because to the efforts of Vice President Dan Quayle's staff. For all his hard work, Quayle was given a "special thanks" credit at the film's conclusion.
Warwick Davis was starting to regret making the movie, but many people rented it after Anniston became popular on TV, which led to a long series of sequels. It's said to have been one of Warwick's favorites.
